Introduction:
Barry Gibb: A Life of Music, Memories, and Meaningful Drives
The Bentley Continental GT marked a new era for Bentley as the first model launched after Volkswagen’s acquisition of the brand in 1998, and the first to adopt modern mass production. It was soon followed by the Flying Spur, expanding Bentley’s reach and appeal. For Barry Gibb, the Bentley came to represent maturity—a reminder of life’s deeper values beyond fame. As of 2025, the Continental GT starts at $36,250.
Another classic in Barry’s collection is the Citroën DS Cabriolet (1955–1975), renowned for its sleek, aerodynamic design and pioneering disc brakes. The car became a nostalgic companion for Barry, often seen driving it while dressed in a high-collared ’70s suit. Today, its value ranges between $170,000 and $230,000.
Barry also owns a Lotus Europa (1966–1975), celebrated for its lightweight, mid-engine build and minimalist design. To Barry, it reflects his fearless creativity and love of innovation. On average, a Lotus Europa now sells for around $22,289.
Beyond the garage, Barry Gibb’s true legacy lies in his music and family. Born in 1946 on the Isle of Man, Barry formed his first band with his younger brothers Maurice and Robin—eventually becoming the legendary Bee Gees. The trio went on to sell more than 220 million records. After losing all three of his brothers, Barry has continued to honor their memory through music.
Barry met Linda Gray in 1967 on a television music show and married her in 1970. Their connection was instant and has stood the test of time for over five decades. In the wake of his brothers’ deaths, Barry experienced immense grief—but with Linda’s unwavering support, he found the strength to return to music. He toured with his son and niece and released his first solo album, In the Now, in 2016.
Barry often credits Linda with helping him stay grounded, steering him away from the personal struggles that plagued his brothers. The couple eventually moved to Miami, Florida, where they live a peaceful life near the water. They also maintain a home in England.
Together, Barry and Linda raised five children: Steven, Ashley, Travis, Michael, and Alexandra. Now proud grandparents of seven, Barry considers family the most important part of his life—closely followed by music. He has often called Linda the anchor of their family.
Their first child, Steven, was born in 1973. A musician himself, Steven has played in bands like 58 and Black Label Society and joined his father on the Mythology Tour in 2013. He co-wrote In the Now with his brother Ashley and is a father of two with his wife, Gloria Lev.
Ashley, born in 1977, initially pursued tennis but later joined the family’s musical ventures. He contributed to albums like Guilty Pleasures and In the Now. Ashley is married to Theres Gibb, and together they have a son named Lucas.
Travis, born in 1981, chose a different path and became a real estate agent in Miami. He is married to Stacy Bash Gibb, with whom he has two children: Ila and Liam. In a 2013 interview, Barry expressed how much he cherishes being a grandfather after years in the spotlight.
Michael, born in 1984, was named after his godfather, Michael Jackson. He pursued acting rather than music. Alexandra, the youngest, was born in 1991 and inspired one of Barry’s most iconic moments in pop culture—the Barry Gibb Talk Show parody on Saturday Night Live. Initially hesitant to take part, Barry was persuaded by Alexandra to appear on the show, resulting in a beloved television moment.
Although Alexandra tends to keep a low profile, she accompanied her father to Buckingham Palace in 2018 for his investiture as a Knight Bachelor.
Now 78 years old (as of 2024), Barry remains active in music. His 2021 album Greenfields explored his lifelong love of country music and was featured in an HBO documentary about his life. Initially reluctant to be the focus, Barry ultimately embraced the process, thanks to producer Dave Cobb, who ensured his voice took center stage.
After the passing of his brother Robin, Barry has come to value the present more than ever. He embraces each moment fully—through music, family, and quiet reflection.
