Introduction
GENTLE George Strait and wife Norma just passed their
50-year anniversary — but they’re as loved up as ever, thanks to the King of Country’s romantic ways!
Sources snitch to The National ENQUIRER the 69-year-old superstar has managed to keep his marriage safe and sexy by putting his wife — former high school sweetheart Norma
Voss, 67 — ahead of everything else, including his awardwinning country music career.
“He’s about as romantic as they come and his way of thinking helps keep the home fires burning,” spills an insider.
“George never fails to surprise Norma with flowers and other gifts, whether it’s a special occasion or just because he feels like it. She comes with him on the road and they support each other and are each other’s best friend.
“George just thinks that’s the way it should be. He loves being married to Norma!” It hasn’t always been easy, though. The two clung to each other in their grief after losing 13-year-old daughter Jenifer, who died in a car accident June 25, 1986, while out with friends. They managed to soldier on and continued to raise their other child, George Jr., known as Bubba.
“They’re very private about their personal life and have been through heartache, but their friends know there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for Norma and their family,” reveals an insider. “He’s big on family and when they’re not on the road, they’re spending downtime on their ranch in Texas,” where pals say the “Cowboy Rides Away” singer keeps himself in shape doing minor repairs.
“Their idea of a good time is a date night in, making dinner and putting on some soft music. George was always popular with the ladies and could have had his pick — but Norma never had anything to worry about because he’s as devoted as they come!”
