The Highwaymen were a country music supergroup composed of four legendary singers: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. They recorded three studio albums and performed several concerts together between 1985 and 1995. One of their most memorable performances was at the Nassau Coliseum in New York in 1990, where they sang a variety of songs from their individual and collective careers.

One of the songs they performed was “Help Me Make It Through The Night”, a classic ballad written by Kris Kristofferson in 1970. The song expresses the longing for companionship and comfort in a lonely night, and has been covered by many artists, such as Sammi Smith, Elvis Presley, Gladys Knight and Tammy Wynette. The Highwaymen’s version features Kristofferson on lead vocals, with the other three members providing harmony and backing vocals.
